Location:Bignhamton, NY. Love's truckstop
Exercise: none

today went from a simple and short day to a way too long one.

it started at 8am when I went to see the dispatcher for my load. Tony wasn't in today it was Martine. As people who;ve read my LJ before I'd rather deal with anyone other than Tony so it was good. after looking for somethign for me she found me a load going to the Tampa, FL area for monday morning, since i needed to reset my hours it worked fine. I even figured I'd get to the customer sunday earlish. she gave me a trailer to take to Dorval, which is where the load was waiting.

then I hit delay 1, seems someone decided my truck needed it's tires changed and didn't tell anyone, they didn't even put a note in the system so the dispatcher would know the trauck wasn't leaving immediatly. it was 9:30 by the time they were done with it, still not too bad. get the trailer, fuel and head out the gate, just as it closes behind me I get a warning signal. the exhaust burner wasn';t turning on (it's something that burns the particules in the exhaust so it comes out of hte truck cleaner) another driver had just ben telling me how someone had destroyed their truck's exhaust system b ecause they hadn't been paying attention to that warning. I tried to activate it manually but nothing happened.

so I go back inside and the shot loooks at it. after an hour I find out that it was just because the engine wasn't hot enough at that point. the engine needs to be about 160oC for this to kick in.

so it's 10:30, still not too bad, although at this point I'm no longer going to be parking early on Sunday.

get to dorval and there's a bunch of problem with the paperwork so it's past 1pm by the time I finally leave. not only am I not going to be getting to the customer that early, but now I had to drive till 7pm to make sure I wasn't even going to be late. it's a good thing I'm not driving tomorrow, cause I'm tired.

keep on trucking.
