[Sotd] A Call for Opinion

I have a final project coming up for my digital clothed figure drawing class. I am supposed to make a concept for a character from one of three themes. The themes were Romans, Pirates or Steampunk. I'll give you one guess at the theme I jumped for. First part of the assignment was to make four costume sketches and four possible portraits for three specific characters. One character is a hero, then a sidekick and of course, a villain.

Going with the Steamunk (and Pirate as well) theme, I came up with the idea of an airship, the Isabella, in an alternative world history where Napoleon won a great victory at Waterloo. The Isabella is Captained by a fierce piratess and markswoman, Sylvanna d'Avion. Sylvanna has instituted an all female crew policy, including her trusted mechanic, Rivette Lefevre, possibly her only true friend. Rivette is either extremely serious or extremely jolly, I haven't decided. She'd be the best candidate as a "straight man" against the Captain's extreme personality. Either way, she likes her drink. Rivette is not an original member of the crew, she took the place of the ship's inventor, Bernard Fournier.
Bernard Fournier was then romantically involved with Sylvanna and designed and built the Isabella for her. They were simply adventurers, traveling to far distant lands in search of artifacts for the Musée du Louvre, garnering fame and fortune. In an unfortunate accident, though, they accidentally brought about the collapse of the Egyptian Temple of Set. Bernard was believed to have died in the collapse, but in fact survived due to the occult magics untapped in an amulet(or staff) he had found. The amulet(or staff) was sentient and promised him survival and power in exchange for his own flesh. His hand/arm has been burned down to bone, and he his continually fed upon. But he lived to escape his would be tomb and has been granted certain vampiric powers. But driven mad by corrupting power and pain, he swears revenge upon Sylvanna and the rest of the crew of the Isabella. He joins the corrupt Napolleonic Empire, creating for them airships that they use to police the world as the first world power. And as a hero of the empire, he is not questioned when he declares the crew of the Isabella enemies of the state. Now fugitives and running from the Grande Armée de l'Air, Sylvanna and her crew join the Seventh Coalition. They ambush Empire ships for food and supplies for the poor French peoples. Sylvanna is no white knight, however. Cold and ruthless, she enjoys the brutal killing a bit too much. She is just as bitter with Bernard as he is with her, believing she did no wrong and has been betrayed. They have clashed once so far, neither side truly winning. Bernard's ship was unable to take down the Isabella, the first airship more sophisticated now due to Rivette's improvements. Bernard was able to strike out with an emblazoned foil and put out Sylvanna's dominant shooting eye.
And that's it, the setting for a story needing maybe a whole new fourth character as a protagonist. But that aside, I'm posting because I'd like some opinions. If you have any strong opinions on which costume and portraits fit with the characters as I have described them, please do share!

Edit:

Just wanted to share some name meanings >:D

  • I chose Sylvanna in memory of my grandma. CORNY I know. This character is fire-y though, like her. I also like the green connotation. d'Avion = PLANE (should be self explanatory, ya?)
  • Rivette because it sounds like rivet (mechanically fastener). Lefevre = iron smith or just smith :D
  • Bernard because it just sounds strong, honestly. :X Fournier =  oven. You know because he brings the heat. And is hot. HAHAHAHAH
  • And The Isabella obvious reference to the Queen of Explorers is obvious.
God, I'm a but case. XD

EDIT 2: Yeah I made that weird story up as I was drawing. >.
