take some time to make some sense

To say that we never set out to sell millions of records would be complete shit wouldn't it? We're a TV made popact that was put together for the sole reason to sell. Sure, the people involved thought that perhaps some quality could come from it, but their ultimate goal was to get ratings and money. It was a double effort on that one of course as two groups came out of it, Girls Aloud and One True Voice, although I'll be a bit full of myself and say that one may have done its job a lot better than the other. Our goal, the five of us who made it past elimination, were just really glad to get an opportunity to be heard and become the next Spices or something like that. Very girl powerish. We've all got very lovely voices (this isn't conceit, just fact girls and boys), and the ambition and desire to move our careers forward and make something of ourselves. As we haven't just faded into obscurity yet, I think there is some impact there. We've had more success then I ever dreamed of having when I was first cut from even making it to the top ten, and I appreciate everything I've been given.

Chemistry is a very different album. I think we've really progressed and changed a lot of things from album to album and now to new album. Perhaps it isn't always a good thing as I'm aware of the grumblings from various fan corners. There's others about the arrangements on the songs and who has more lines than someone else. I could always understand it in some groups where the focus seemed to be one person more than the others, but maybe because I'm a direct part of it I don't see it here. You'd think I would since I'm apparently one of the ones being pushed to the back of the Nadine Coyle and Girls Aloud show. There's Nadine and Cheryl and sometimes the others with a bit more Nicola than Sarah or Kim. I think the way things are arranged is rather nice though. We've got different voices suited for different things and these directions are ones we're prepared to be taken in. I've got lines, Nicola's got lines, Sarah does, we all do. We're not banished to backup singer hell as others have been in the past. Yes, See the Day is a bit more of one than the rest but trust me...it sounds better this way. If you're looking here for words of resentment or malice, you're looking in the wrong direction. Hit Sarah up, she's the one being MIA.

Another big issue now is the content of our songs. We've apparently gotten "too grown up" or too Racey Lacey (hahahahaha) for who some consider our biggest fanbase. Though I've got to wonder when we were ever this clean cut girly girl image. I think most of our music has been sort of sexy and a little "what was that?" and trust me, I've heard far worse that I'd want to cover my daughter's ears from.

It's possible this controversy has something to do with the relatively low chart position our album debuted at, but it's probably more due to the changing in taste. I think our music is still relevant, so I'm not running for the door yet. There's a need for good old fashioned pop music and we're trying to provide it. We'll probably keep on too, until one of us decides enough is enough and has a big row with the other girls leaving bite marks and hairs pulled and bitter comments left on the front pages of the tabloids. Oooh. I'm not entirely satisfied with number 11 because I think we've made a really brilliant record, and a lot of critics seemed to agree. What do I expect though when there's really two shots of Robbie Williams on the charts? HOW CAN WE COMPETE?

So, I'm in London. Hopefully entertaining Sanoe Lake for an extended period of time until such a time that she deems it necessary to leave my company. I'm looking forward to other visitors. It's Christmas time and I love gatherings and just seeing as many people as possible. I'm sure Cheryl has been hanging about here stalking me as well, and I just want a mention of her here.

I was quite sure my account was running out today and now it seems I've got another two months. I never got a notice so I'm surprised yet of course pleased with this development. Show your face though, will you? I'd hate to not be able to repay this huge favour in...some way ;). I'm sure we'll be able to come to a reasonable decision about repayment.
