Freaky ...

This morning, my hero was having an argument with herself and as part of it quoted a couple of lines ...

"No man is an island. Every death diminshes me."

The voice of reason rebutted "Okay, say you do get involved, what, really can you do ..."

This afternoon, I decided to check the attribution of the two lines I quoted. I was pretty sure the first line was from John Donne. The second ... I really didn't know - it's something I've heard and thought appropriate.No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as a manor of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.
