A Night in the Lonesome October

12th Oct. Snuff stayed around home, watching the Things. He doesn't like skinny ladies (the Thing in the Circle tried to be a greyhound). He heard that Nightwind the owl had picked up Quicklime the blacksnake and dropped him far out in the Thames. The snake washed ashore and slithered home, but Snuff didn't know why they'd argued. Jack and he stayed home and Jack "read aloud everything involving killings, arsons, mutilations, grave robberies, church desecrations, and unusual deaths." Snuff remarks on this that " It is very pleasant just being domestic sometimes."

This last phrase reminds me of Annie the ghost of the show Being Human babysitting the infant ghost and finding out that what he liked best were the ghost stories.
