We had the End of Season dance in Weston last night. I don't usually go to the formal dances - I don't like meeting with a lot of strangers. The noise, heat and confusion upset me. Usually, if I go, I only stay for a dance or two and then I quietly leave.
Last night, the dance was billed as a "Strawberry Shortcake Social" and I volunteered/ was asked to provide the shortcake - so I had to at least show up. A woman (Veronica) was there from the "Scottish Exchange" and I bought a sporran, a sporran belt and stag head pin early in the evening then I did my best to stay away. There was one necklace there - it was lovely. A delicate and intricate construction of an array of bell-shaped flowers that rest on the base of the neck. It was something a debutante/ belle of the ball should wear.

There were a fair number of people there - enough for four sets of four (and those just watching). We had a 3 piece band playing and they were quite good. I had a fine time and I would have stayed for longer but for two things - I don't remember ever having danced the last two dances there and (more importantly) I hadn't seen my husband since very early in the morning and with the new schedule, I don't get to see much of him during the work week. (Also, I hadn't updated Na Gurnaidh and there were a few dragons about which I had concerns.)
