There was writing done this morning ...

... but no keyboarding. I lost my "sweet spot" in the old office the other day ... didn't get any keyboarding done yesterday either, come to think of it ... and I'm not yet comfortably placed in the new office. I can't breathe, I'm not getting the air flow and all the fans are pointed at M. He's decided that the perfect spot for the trash can is where I planned to put my book shelf and where my foot stool goes.

I am at the stage of the project where I'm convinced I will never get it all back together properly, I can't dig out the bookshelves for my writing library even if I had a place to put them, I can't figure out where my sewing table will fit ...

and something stinks.

In other news, I found a 1966 Effanbee Junior Girl Scout doll - which I knew was a Junior Girl Scout because she's wearing her uniform dress and shoes. I also found a 6 inch Our Generation doll that compares fairly well with the American Girl 6 inch dolls. And small (2 inch) figures of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Harry and Ron are attacking Dr. Strange while Hermione ponders the situation on top the Borg cube.

While I was writing today, I had some insights as to who might possibly be doing the plotting. Sarah was very gently questioning Sally and I hoped to get some answers when a minor functionary with delusions of grandeur from the State Dept. poked his nose in and thoroughly outraged Sally.

I discovered that the Fey of Faerie are not "civilized", per se - very few of them gather in cities and only at need (The Greeks and Romans were positively afraid of the countryside, convinced that it was a horrible place of violence and crime - because the city was so much better. the word "civilized" comes from the Roman word for "city"). (For comparison, the word "pagan" comes to us from the Roman word for country.)

Instead they are "polite" or "courtly". By behaving like a boor, the not-so-diplomatic diplomat proved himself to be a barbarian and Sally refused to be introduced to him.

One of the things that became clear to me yesterday while I was doodling around with definitions and explanations and things was the reason WHY Sally refers to Sarah as "My Sarah" - this reason makes me determined to always come up with a reason why Sarah should not go visit the court of Sally's father.

Also, I learned today that while humans may have some status in the realm of Faerie ruled by Sally's father (Sally's mother was human), in some other realms they are slaves/ serfs, and in yet others they are bred for meat.

It's too hot and something stinks of perfume - I'm heading for bed.
