Today is a 'Special Blend' sort of day ....
I make coffee using a Melitta filter and store it in an insulated carafe. Usually it's a Nantucket blend (1/8th scoop) with a tbsp of either Eggnog or Pumpkin Spice (Green Mountain Coffee) with about 6 cups of boiling water. Today, though, it going to be rough. And so I'm making Special Blend.
Special Blend is the same mixture but with the addition of a tsp of unsweetened baking cocoa. This gives the coffee more of a caffiene kick - not only from the chocolate (and mocha taste) but also because ... chocolate powder clogs the filter, which results in a slower drip and a longer caffiene extraction time. I don't make it very often - it takes twice as long to filter through, but sometimes ... you just need the extra kick.
I didn't sleep well last night. The sheets seemed to be sucking the warmth from my body, despite two blankets over me (one a thick woollen one). Wrapping up in the throw my sister gave me for Christmas ... made me too hot. Finally, I stretched my knit wrap from toe to shoulders (lying as straight as possible because ... well, I'm wider than it is!) and that seemed to work. Just in time for the cat to decide it was time to play Hide and Seek!
I fell asleep again (after chasing said nuisance down the basement stairs) and dreamt of a world battling a plague of vampires. Zombie-vampires, dead and decaying, not the attractive seductive ones of popular media. The problem was that they were strong and fast, could fly and they ...wouldn't ... stay ... dead!
Then, in the dream, in desperation, I crossed myself and ... the vamp I was fighting at the time fell down and stayed down. After that, I was busier than ever as a vampire-slayer, and more hunted as the suckers started targeting me and my team. It was ... exhausting.
If that weren't enough, today my younger son is getting all four wisdom teeth extracted.
I'm not really looking forward to that.
He's looking forward to it even less.
