Dream - The Ghost Squad and the Armegeddon Cult

Oct 28, 2013 17:34

The Ghost Squad was called in to investigate a cult - with possible occult ties - which had set up a compound in an abandoned manufactory. Some of us had gone in earlier, undercover, and barely gotten back out - seemed typical cult, with the loyalty tests, armed guards, fortress-mentality. The leader was a charismatic, preaching the usual end-of-the-world, only-the-faithful-will-survive, and faith-will-save-you sort of thing. Lots of ritual robes and ceremony, but no real occult magic, not demonic summoning.

We barely got out. Gave our intelligence and the brawny guys took over, organised a raid. Odd. There was no resistance. NONE. When we got in, there was nobody there. The sleeping pallets - each in its own curtained cubical, were surrounded by splattered halos of blood. When we moved the pallets, we found holes going down into the understructure of the building - deeper than the understructure. We followed one of the holes down and that was where we found the sole living individual - the charismatic, still wearing his robes, tied up into a web of sorts, miles under the ground. He was in a panic, yelling for us to come down (landing after landing after landing of twisting stairs) to save him before the dirty bomb went off. Germ bomb - bad enough to immediately infect half the city with the potential to spread via wind to the rest of the countryside.

if it hadn't been for the bomb, we might well have left him there. We were still debating it when I woke up.

And I guess we were wrong about the demonic connection too - because I don't know what happened to the other cult members. There was a lot of blood splattered around the sleeping pallets but not ... not a whole body's worth, if you know what I mean. and there were the holes.
