A while back, I dreamt of a group of individuals from different world levels who policed the access between the levels - a border patrol, if you will, who worked to prevent border violations/ invasions between the different worlds. This morning, I had another dream about the group.
An evil Egyptian wizard, mummified alive, had broken free of his prison and was intent on getting revenge on the organisation which had prevented his bid for power centuries ago. The top agent was sent to track him, others were to follow. The agent had a cat ... a VERY young cat ... to help him. (This wasn't an ordinary housecat, but something special - along the lines of the Egyptian hunting cat and the Scottish wildcat - large, intelligent, focussed. But very young.)
The agent found a place where the mummy wizard had disturbed the soil - as if it had buried something; there were fragments of wrapping mixed up with the sand. While the agent was investigating, a swarm of scarab beetles erupted from the dirt, one of them bit the agent's hand; instead of healing, the bite site began to ... to dessicate and the dessication began to spread up the arm. It became evident that the mummy wizard had managed to duplicate the curse placed on it and had set the trap to get as many of its enemies as he could. The agent managed to save the cat - and this was very important, but I don't know why. Maybe because I think it's important to preserve those entrusted into one's care? ::: shrug :::
As the mummification progressed, linens began to wrap around the arm - the typical mummy's bandages. The agent kept ripping them off. More team members arrived, the lead agent tried to get them to go, he was afraid the cursed beetles would get to them and he was afraid that the curse was transferable, but they insisted on staying and searching for a cure.
Annoyingly, although a cure was found in the dream ... and I remember that it was found ... I did not carry out of the dream the memory of what it was. And, naturally, this was one of the reasons the mummy had chose that particular revenge - it was watching, waiting, and planning to return as human.
Although, I think that it would not have minded so very much if it had reduced its enemies to its own state of torment.
