Sup. Mark is out golfing, there is nothing on tv, and my head hurts. Consequently, the two worthwhile tasks I can think of to do (reading my new books and cleaning my apartment) are not at the top of my to do list. I picked up this book, L'Amande (The Almond), at the Rice bookstore on sale for $1.00 -- I didn't know what it was about, but I started reading it the other day, and it is the journal of the sexual awakening of an Arab woman. Let's just say that I'm going to learn all SORTS of dirty words in French. I wonder what the almond refers to... I think I have an idea, but I'll keep this entry G-rated (for now anyway).

I went to Austin a few weekends ago to hang out with Sue -- so fun. I love that city. It was a short visit, but given that Sue is one
of my favorite friends, it was a good time. I had some tasty barbecue, went shopping, saw Wedding Crashers, and went to 6th street with Sue and Lemuel. Mark stayed home when we went out. Booooo him. Anyway, I think I might have drank more Jagermeister than my body would have normally wanted, but a greasy slice of pepperoni pizza from a street vendor at 3:00 am solved that problem straightaway. I'm currently planning on making another trip to Hill Country later this month, to go tubing on the Guadelupe river. I have a new floppy hat just for the occasion.

I had a "job interview" this week -- to take on another student for tutoring. Only, apparently this kid requires tutoring 2-3 hours a day -- which sounds suspiciously like "sit there and force him to do his homework time" to me. But given my going rate of $45/hr, that would be a hell of a lot of money. Not that the thought of anything as sordid as money is influencing my decision. Ha! I have to admit that it would be nice to have the extra money to save for law school, make the max contribution to my IRA, take a trip, buy some diamond studs, what? Anyway, the thing is that I LOVE my two other students, and I don't think I would have enough time to keep them on. Ok, and also, the personal assistant who interviewed me let me know that this family is somewhat strange. I'm leaning towards no, but I admit the prospect of making that much money is somewhat tantalizing. Also, I would get to practice my French every day, with a bilingual kid!

I finally went out last night with two of the law clerks at work. We went to Fitzgerald's, in the Heights, to hear one of the girl's cousins play. Granted, he and his bandmates were 17 -- yet they were surprisingly good and we had fun. Later we went to a diner, and I had what were likely the greasiest onion rings to have ever been made. I'm excited to finally have made new friends (yes I am 5) from work. Speaking of friends, this morning I got to see Grace, from Paris. I met her at the airport during her layover on the way to LA. Love that girl.

Ok seriously I thought Mark would be back by now. Who wants to play 18 holes when it feels like 101 degrees outside? WAH. I want to make pasta, drink red wine, and watch Sopranos.
