Brightly is right! Disposable things tend to be disgusting when you come across them.
So one of the problems I run into, having an international audience, is choosing certain words and phrases. Having a made-up country with a made-up culture lets me get around a lot of that, but I try to avoid making the characters sound American. Case in point: the parking lot. What Americans call a parking lot, the British (and other countries of a British persuasion) call car parks. Which, of course, reminds Americans of dog parks, as if Brits take their cars out for strolls. What's a writer to do? I settled on car lot, which seems like a nice middle ground, although it will make a lot of American readers think of car salesmen. Sorry about that.
