And, of course, the virus and the Apple laptop in Independence Day.

Hilarious! We just recently watched Man of the Year for the first time recently. I remember a few goofy glitches from my web dev past that you would think wouldn't cause a problem...but they sure did! It's been so long I can't remember specifically, alas.

The double letter glitch just struck me as so ridiculous. If you choose between three candidates, wouldn't you make each name--the whole name--an option within an array? Doing it any other way would be more open to error, and more importantly, it would take a lot longer to write. There's nothing a geek hates more than something that creates more work than is necessary.

I'll agree with you there! I worked for a big name shop and some of the redundant stuff that went on was awful. Projects were worked under tight deadlines and there was never time to do things properly. We had a JavaScript library called the BFH - Big F*cking Hack to workaround the workarounds :-(

Thinking about other stupid tech in movies... watching The Net now is absolutely hilarious.

I've actually seen all those movies mentioned. I guess I'm a tech geek too. :p

I'm like that with tech movies. Only I usually wind up having to recite the MST3k mantra a few times when I watch them.
