Hm. Well. Yes.

Episode 2X13.

Hm.

I didn't NOT like this episode. And I did LIKE it. But I have issues.

I mean, yes. I have ISSUES. LOL. And being raised Catholic, some of those issues are, well, yeah. So:

1) MAGIC FINGERS!!! - Heee. And, yeah...Sam's face when Dean's enjoying the pleasures of the quarters. Awkward. And special.
2) Hip flask. Well, it's ( Read more... )

if you accept that you can't understand God's will, that you just...uh...accept it, you kinda get where Dean is in shock over this thing.

He's totally in denial about angels, and I can see why. What has he seen that's proved to him that there's anyone looking out for him and his, but HIM? And not HIM in a heavenly sense. Of course he sees chaos and random evil...and he also sees the destruction of that as his job.

So Sam is a believer, and Dean is not. And the "angel" is picking people who need redemption to do God's will.
Yeah, of course he picks Sam. And you know that Dean knows at that moment that Sam's not going anywhere NEAR his "target".

I still have some quibbles with the whole "last rites" thing, and that old priest...bah. He's not a very good priest. But I've come to the conclusion that the death of Father Thomas was the will of God, that he wasn't just a confused ghost, that he was doing God's will by sending those other people out to mete out justice. And that by choosing Sam, the way was set for Dean to have his sign, his proof that there's something going on.

The set of circumstances that put that bad guy in front of a truck that's sideswiped by another truck, (at first I thought the guy caused the accident, but he didn't. He was just THERE, wpwt.) and the fact that the pole goes through his heart, and not his head, and not his neck...it's circumstantial, but really STRONGLY circumstantial.

And there's also the fact that DEAN is the one to be there to see that. The one who's practically BEGGING for a sign. He gets a DAMNED BIG ONE.

Cause, really, Sammy should have gotten the sign. He was the one the "angel" sent. But Sammy didn't need the sign, and Dean did.

And by giving Dean faith, Sam's shaken faith is restored. Works out well for everyone.

And, does Dean see himself as a killer? I'm not sure about that. He really is like the archangel Michael. He just goes about doing his job. The bane of DEMONS.

Who has he killed that didn't deserve it? Who wasn't attacking him, or someone else? Besides that vamp, and he didn't KNOW the vamp was good. His eyes were opened there. He's all about doing his business--being a soldier in the fight against evil.

I was really unhappy about how he killed that woman in Croatoan. But if you look at it in an Archangel Michael way, it makes sense. Same with the nurse he offed. And the Dad...all of them were just casualties of war.

There's also the fact that he's been charged by his father (again, parallels to Michael carrying out THE Father's will) with protecting Sam from evil, and if he can't he "may" have to kill him. He's following orders when he steps in and takes on the killing. Keeps Sam "safe".

so, yeah, Dean's gonna keep throwing himself on that grenade...over and over until he can't anymore.

Dude. Screw going door to door...I'm stayin' right here next to the alter, with all the candles and the wine...and the thighs and whatnot. :)

Seriously, somebody get on that organ and pound out a little Led Zep, huh?
