August 24 2014, I together with 2 of my colleagues went to the cinema to watch "Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno". 23rd was our original date of watching but got delayed because of unseen circumstances but nevertheless we still took our time to witness the movie for ourselves, we were not disappointed though. The movie was great from the very start til it ends. The movie start off with hajime saito leading the soldiers to a place which is supposed to be shishio makoto's hell on earth, the setting and props are set so well, it was very scary with some of the soldiers hang with a huge fire below their feet. Hurrrr it was amazing!! That first scene already took me at the eadge of my seat! Then kenshin and the gang was first spotted watching kabuki in asakasa. That comedy part eases the tension. It was a very good shift of mood. First glance at taker sato and you already got the "kenshin aura", he really knows how to put his character it's like as if he really is kenshin, his red hair and the x mark in his face that is the symbol of his past and his outfit! It was really refreshing how his costume did not just stick to the red kimono he often wears in the anime. Going back to the movie, keshin was then summon by the current head of the new government to fight and end shishio's plans. I was really looking forward to the "fireflies of may" scene between kenshin and karou but I did not get fireflies nor heavy crying from kaoru but it's OK. At least I still have the hug. ;____________;
Shishio makoto played by Tatsuya Fujiwara is the main antagonist of the taika-hen, wrapped in bandage. We got a flashback of how shishio was attacked and burned. Tatsuya is really one of my favorite actors, you can catch him in death note as the light yagami and kaiji on the movie with the same name. Tatsuya despite being covered with bandage could still give you the same air of authority, strenght and scary aura that shishio have.
Fight scenes between kenshin members of jupon katana- soujiro seta and cho the sword hunter- was also amazing, from their forms and how they held their swords. Thumbs up to director and producer for taking notice of every little detail of the movie.
Another remarkable scene was the burning of Kyoto and the fight between okina and aoshi. Tbqh, that's really one of the scenes I look forward to. Kyoto taika-hen will not be complete without Okinawa and aoshi. Then there's sanosuke again showing up in Kyoto screaming and with his failed attempt to jump to the other side of the river with the help of a long bamboo. This movie knows when to put in the laughs.
The movie ended with kenshin lying by the seashore after his attempt to rescue kauro from shishio. His body was then carried by a guy which I think is his master who gave him the name kenshin, no other that seijuro hiko. OMG YES!! SEPTEMBER 24 COME FASTER!!
I'm still overwhelmed with how the movie goes. I salute director Keishi Otomo for a wonderful creation! I'm looking forward to Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends. To those who havent watch the movie yet I'm sorry for the spoiler. To those who are currently watching, enjoy!! *i apologise for my grammar. This was written in midst of excitement and being sleep deprive. No time to proof-read.*
