Oh wow. Two posts in one day. XD
The first thing I'd like to say is that I'm really surprised. For the first time in three years, there are actually guests that I'm interested in~!
I'm really excited to see Tomokazu Seki. Depending on the time, I want to check out Mamiko Noto as well. Although I don't hold much interest in directors and such, there are a couple of them I might want to check out this year.
Now, the guests that I think most people have been anticipating the official announcement over: the musical guests. With less than a month left until the convention, I admittedly didn't know what to expect. I thought that it was either going to be amazing or absolutely horrible. I ended up with mixed feelings over them in the end.
Otakon's jpop guests for 2007 is the group AAA. My first thought when I saw the announcement was: "Oh wow, a group that I've actually heard of before hand." After that, I had mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I'm in love with one of their latest songs Kuchibiru kara romantica, and I like some of their recent stuff such as Get Chuu! and Sunshine. On the other hand, I'm not a big fan of a lot of their older stuff. I guess, in the end, I'm excited that they're coming to Otakon. There's nothing all that special about them, but I'll probably check them out.
Otakon's second musical guest announcement was a sort of surprise to me. Eminence Symphony Orchestra's String Quartet will be performing with a special guest, composer Hitoshi Sakimoto. At first, I was just like: "...huh?", but now I'm actually looking forward to listening to them perform. I think it will be a refreshing change to the normal musical guests that cons have.
