Chapter One

"Let's go Dai-chan! Come with me and Takaki and play!" Reika pulled on Daiki's arm and Daiki laughed.
"Only if you can pull me up." Reika lifted her nose up high and pulled her sleeves back. With a great effort, she managed to drag Daiki off of the chair.
"UWA!" Daiki yelled as he ell to the floor, Takaki laughing at him and Reika shocked but amused.

Daiki looked at himself in the mirror. He fixed his hair and sprayed himself with a little Axe. He hunted his face for a hint of hair, but that wasn't likely. Daiki had the smooth complexion of a child.
"Yosh!" After deeming himself good enough, he strode out the door.
"I'm leaving KAA-SAN!" Daiki closed the door behind him, threw his bag over his shoulder, put a hand in his pocket and began walking to school. He whistled a few notes and kicked pebbles. At last, he stood at the front steps of his school. He paused and took a deep breath before going in. He walked through the halls, not many students up and about yet. He took a seat at a small bench and took out his iPod. At that exact moment, a door at the end of the hall opened. Out stepped a small girl with loose curls, her glasses midway up her nose. She had a slight sprakle in her eyes and walked quickly. She spotted Daiki who saw her as well. She smiled, revealing the small dimples close to her cheeks.
"Ohayo Dai-chan!" Daiki grinned up at her.
"Ohayo Rei-chan!" Reika laughed and sat down beside him.
"Mind if you keep you company?" She asked brightly. Daiki shrugged.
"Feel free! Oh, and how's Takaki?" It was Reika's turn to shrug and she sighed.
"He's barely been at home so I don't see him...often." Daiki nodded and fiddled with his bag. It's been such a long time since he and Reika spoke. They've only ever said 'hi' at most, or a word or two, much less than an actual conversation. They sat in silence, both trying to think of something--anything--to say.

Daiki and Reika sat on a bench at the park in a small wilence. Reika pouted. "Dai-chan, I'm BORED!" Daiki nodded in agreement.
"Me too, and your brother's late...again!" Thn all of a sudden...

"OHAYO!" Daiki and Reika snapped their heads at the other end of the hallway. There they saw Takaki with a big smile on his face. He walked straight to them.
"Hey Dai-chan, ReiRei." Reika rolled her eyes just as Daiki waved.
"How many times have I told you NOT to call me that?" Takaki shrugged.
"Dunno, but you used to like it when you were a kid..."

Ne, Reika-chan--No, no, that's too long!" Takaki started. Reika raised an eyebrow but Daiki nodded in agreement.
"Yes Takaki! I couldn't help but to agree." Takaki surveyed his little sister for a bit before snapping his fingers and whispered to Daiki.
"Ugh, you guys are stupid..." Reika folded her arms. Daiki smiled and said, "Uh huh." They turned to Reika with huge smiles.
"We've decided--"
"--to give you a nickname!" Takaki finished. Reika's browns furrowed and she looked at them expectantly. Takaki and Daiki looked at each other before blurting in sync.
"ReiRei!"

There was a faint smile on Reika's face as she picture the park in her head.
Daiki's eyes were glazed over, a blank look, so unlike him, was plastered on to his face.
Takaki's weyes widened a bit and he let out a small 'Oh!' bt no one heard.
Reika was the first to recover and she shook her head a bit, as if to rid herself of those thoughts.
"A-Ano, I gotta, erm, get going...Ja." Reika got up hurriedly and disappeared through the classroom doors.
"H-Hai. I should go meet up with the dudes now..." Before Daiki got over himself, Takaki had gone. He was sitting alone again, barely registering the earphones still plugged into his ears...

Look at this photograph, everytime I knew it makes me laugh...

Daiki sighed and pulled out his earphones and turned his iPod off. He slowly got up and walked to his class...
"Oh shoot!" Daiki stopped walking and smacked his forehead. He just remembered he got his classes switched because his old teacher was retiring. He jammed his hand into his pockets fishing for his schedule. At last, his skin made contact with a slightly crumpled paper. He too it out and deciphered the words. Class 3A. Daiki looked up and noticed that he was staring right at Class 3A. He also realized that that was the door Reika had walked into. He brushed his thoughts aside and slid the door open. Inside, everyone was still talking, and not all the seats were occupied, so he went to the back, close to the window. Daiki put his bag beside the desk, sat down and laid his head in his arms on the desk. He closed his eyes for a little bit and breathed in deeply. He blocked out all the sounds of the class, as it got steadily louder, showing that more students were coming in. Soon enough, there was a loud buz and it was harder for Daiki to block out the sounds completely. The loud buzz was surrounding him and finally, he couldn't take it any longer, so he lifted his head and saw that there was a large group of girls that circled around him.
"KAWAII!"
"AW! Looks just a like a cute little boy!"
"He is ADORABLE!"
"So cute..."
"He smells good!"
"He looks good!"
Daiki couldn't comprehend what was going on until one of the girls poked his cheek.
"UWA!" He jumped and the girls squealed.
"Nani--?" His head turned this way and that, all he could see was a sea of girls going 'Aw' and 'Oh'. Daiki wasn't used to all the attention before, especially not from girls. He wasn't sure how to react. Then, when all hope seemed lost, Reika came out from nowhere, looking as if she had fought her way in, looking quite proud of herself as she plopped down into the seat right in front of Daiki. This was his chance.
"Psst, Rei-chan!" Reika turned around and her eyes widened.
"W-What are you doing here?" Daiki flicked his hand impatiently.
"Never mind, Yamaguchi-sensei is retiring. Anyway, can you PLEASE get these girls away, I swear, they're getting closer, like walls or something..." Reika giggled.
"You haven't changed a bit!"

Daiki was running fast, dashing from place to place, looking for the perfect hiding spot.
"Ready or not, here I come!" Finally, Daiki spotted a small space that looked small. However, he squeezed in perfectly. He smiled to himself, she woudln't be able to find him here. The seconds seemed to go on forever and Daiki was starting to sweat profusely. His eyes shifted from one end of the tiny space to the other, and it seemed to be getting smaller and smaller, engulfing him in the darkness...
"Dai-chan! Daijobu desu ka?!" Thank goodness.
"T-Takaki?" He then felt a sharp blow to the side of his arm, then soft but strong arms pulled him out of the space. Daiki felt himself gasping for air.
"Why are you crying Dai-chan?" Daiki looked up and saw Reika. He just noticed that his eyes were feeling a little puffy from crying and that he was sniffing.
"N-Nothing. It was just a small space that's all..." Reika shrugged and patted his back.

Reika paused for a second, her expression fixed. Daiki then snapped his fingers clumsily in front of her face, accidentally hitting her nose.
"Ah, gomen, but you look so dead." He put bluntly.
"Oh, oops. Okay, well hold on..." Reika got up again and this time she started shooing the girls off one by one. After she was done, she sat back down and turned to Daiki.
"You're welcome." Daiki laughed.
"Arigatou!" Reika smiled and turned back to the front. Daiki stared out the window and waited for the day to pass. He couldn't help but to feel that maybe, just maybe, something good was bound to come out of today.
