Elbow at Wembley Arena!! - 14/03/09 - supported by El Bow and The Acorn

Nov 22, 2009 18:41

- Quite a few mates went to this which was a nice change!!

- The strings girls played another pre-Acorn set, right in the middle of the arena. This time it was a mix of classical music and not one but FOUR Elbow songs... Puncture Repair, Not A Job, Picky Bugger and Asleep In The Back. That last one especially made me the happiest person in the arena. :D :D

- Despite doubts by some parties, their music worked really well in a larger venue. Guy is just so great at involving everyone and making even an arena feel like a small venue. I love the giant sideways cross (ie. a cube shape "unfolded") that they had for a big screen. :D

- Interesting to note, the first time I ever saw Elbow was at Wembley Arena in 2003 when they supported Muse there. 6 years on and seeing them play their own headlining gig there was something very special for me. The only songs that they played both times though were Switching Off and New Born, which isn't entirely surprising given that the 2003 gig was in the Cast Of Thousands days.

- Turns out ozzit was at the gig too and he saw us on the big screen, teehee.

- I didn't manage to get a setlist, boooo.
