I'll admit it...it was tough getting up on Sunday morning. I stayed up until about 2:30 am talking with my roommate Jodi Moore.  She's just launched her web site and her very first picture book,  WHEN A DRAGON MOVES IN, will be out May 1st.  We had plenty to talk about.  *squee ( Read more... )

Another GREAT post, Kimmie! Thanks for sharing the experience so I could live vicariously and be inspired, too.

And how weird is this: You mention right up front your friend Jodi Moore and a few months ago I happened to accidentally stumble upon her book and the publisher's website and thought, "Wow, I gotta get that adorable picture book for the kids in my life!" Congrats to her!

I responded to this on your other site, but I'll say it again: Who inspires me? YOU do, Kim, YOU do!!! There is SO much to be absorbed at these conferences. You allow us to live it - and be inspired - all over again! <3

Okay, jumping into the group hug here! You know, Jodi, I have no idea now how I found your book a few months ago. I *think* I was perusing some smaller presses for a friend of mine and as soon as I saw your book I was like, "Whoa! That is ADORABLE!" What a great title! (And your Amazon author page bio is very funny, too!) I have an almost 3 year old grandson and 18 month old granddaughter who live with me and they are getting this as soon as it comes out. I already pre-ordered on Amazon. :-)Can't wait!

Perhaps I can feature you on my blog(s) when DRAGON launches. I blog here and do a mirror blog at Blogger. But remind me, please! I'm also one of the head honchos for www.fromthemixedupfiles.com site (a site all about MG books) and www.spellbindersbooknews.blogspot and I'm in the middle of a 3-book contract so sometimes I get very distracted! My email is kglittle at msn.com

Congratulations to you and good luck! I would think this book is gonna jump off the bookstore shelves!

Oh, yes, I know Mindy! Mindy, Elissa Cruz and I are the main force behind the site - although we certainly have a LOT of help. We run the posts and scheduling and take care of all the problems.

It IS a small world! But such a nice one when it comes to children's writers! How cool!
