I thought to bring something homemade over to my grandparent's house last minute. As I do when I want to make something delicious, I searched smitten kitchen's site for the most abundant ingredient in the house: apples.

Immediately I had my answer: Gingerbread Apple Upside Down Cake

Need I say more? The cake is warm, perfectly spiced, and delicious.
