First off, I had a ball at the pep rally before the ep, watching the ep, and flailing after the ep with my gurlz
patita_fea and
saberivojo It felt like they were snuggling with me in my living room. Awesomecakes!
saberivojo totally hogged all the wine. We teased poor Duckie to death, but she's a tough cookie, and took our abuse like the trooper she is. There was much OMGing and arm flailing and wailing and Boyz and Nooooo and YEsssss!! *schmishes my gurlz loads* Luv yoose!
As you can tell, I pretty much loved it. It was speculated out the whazzo, so a tad predictable, but I did't care much. The boyz were together at the end, and Bobby lives! My top two wishes for the episode. The cherry on top was that bitch Ruby dying by Dean's hand, with an assist from his brother. Total bliss!
Carry On My Wayward Son for the win of all wins!!! I loved Lucifer, or as Duckie calls him, Lucy, channeling thru the nun. I thought that was pretty creepy. Nice to see Yellow Eyes again. I loved Cas teaming up with Dean. Misha and Jensen are amazing together. Chuck! I love Chuck and his end of the world call to get hookers. Go out with a bang, right Chuck.
The whole issue of God's absence is interesting. I understand TPTB not wanting to go too deeply in the religious aspects, 'cos it's a fine line they walk. Is God totally about free will? Does he have no control whatsoever of his Generals? Will he finally put the smackdown on his subordinates? Does he ultimately know the big picture, and it's already playing out like it's supposed to? Is Dean really the next Michael? I love all these questions, and look forward to finding out more.
There was much chatter about Bobby's smackdown with Dean via the preview clips that were released. I'm mostly a spoilerphobe, so I didn't watch the clips at first, but all the anti Bobby talk made me cave. The clip didn't bother me in the least, and once I saw it in context, I think Bobby was right. He knew Dean wouldn't be able to live with abandoning his brother, and his playing the John card was the smart move.
Which brings me to that magnificent bastard, Kripke. How I adore you and your foilers. You knew Bobby was my weakness didn't you. You knew I'd give in. Remind me of this next season when I'm tempted to dip my toe in the spoiler pond. Way to go, dude! Bravo!
And the brothers. Oh, boys. I love that Dean didn't want to possibly die without setting things right with Sam. And Sammy, finally with the I'm sorry. I adore my boyz. And them taking out Ruby TOGETHER. *melts* They have much mending to do, but this gives me hope they're headed in the right direction.
This ending was exactly how I pictured it. Them totally fucking everything up, each in his own way, but being together at the end. I think it's a nice setup for next season. So many questions still out there, but they've got 22 episodes to get 'er done.
I am left wondering how the episode would have played out with Kim Manners directing, even though I've got no qualms with Kripke's version. I know his absense must have been painful for all parties involved. We miss you, Kim.
