hey guys- alot of you were asking to see my more recent studies, so here they are:
Professor Drawingportrait sketch of my figure drawing professor [our model was sick that day- so he read to the class]- 20 minute value/construction approach, charcoal on newsprint 24x36.
highlights: I like his face- turned out well- good molding and reflective light is right on
critique: shadows obviously out of balance, values "darekst dark" is scattered instead of unified in one emphasis. Fabric isn't realistic. lines on body all the same, needs more gradiation.
Male Body30 minute oblique drawing, male figure sculpture, done in my last year's basic drawing class. vine and compressed charcoal on 18x24 newsprint.
highlights: good roundness in the values. gradation of line/shape emphasized, obvious higlights, reflective lights and cast shadows.
critiques: more sharp egdes for definition needed to finish the piece. [note my note to McCoy to give me an A+ - nothing like an obviously over-achieving student!]
Woman's Body30 minute oblique drawing, female figure sculpture, done in my last year's basic drawing class. vine and compressed charcoal on 18x24 newsprint.
higlights: reflective light and values are okay
critiques: obvious bluff on the left knee [horrible lighting that day- direct light from outside kept pouring in on me] intentional removal of fabric- damn me and fabrics...
Skeleton Value SketchValue Study, skeletons and organic objects, done in last year's basic drawing class, charcoal and cante, 18x24.
highlights: attention to gradation of value, depth and repetition of shapes.
critiques: meh- okay composition- visual path noticable, after many attempts of rearranging the composition- just, m'eh...
Mannequin Woman30 minute oblique drawing, female figure sculpture, done in my last year's basic drawing class. vine and compressed charcoal on 18x24 newsprint.
highlights: good movement, composition is well done, values on figure well done
critiques: background- ooohh the background... I like the flooring, but WTF is that shadow? oh kim..... -_-...
Kendall 130 second gesture sketches, figure drawing class, 24x36 sketch paper.
highlights: weight empahsized well with value of line, good representation of the model's form and movement
critiques: nah- pretty good for a geture drawing-
Kendall 25 minute gesture sketches, figure drawing class, 24x36 sketch paper.
highlights: weight empahsized well with value of line and limited shadow done with value., good representation of the model's form and movement, and basic construction.
critiques: probably my favourite gesture drawing so far
Kendall 35 minute gesture sketches, figure drawing class, 24x36 sketch paper.
highlights: weight empahsized well with value of line and limited shadow done with value. elaborated slouch in model's form to empahsize movement.
critiques: not bad.
alright- I have oil paintings as well, but currently waiting for them to dry to scan- I don't think dale would appreaciate oil on the scanner- nope nope...
