So after a day of delayed trains, busses, and planes, I am FINALLY in Edinburgh. Last night I met one of my friends from the school who happened to also be here. We went out to a pub and I bought her her first proper pint! (SHe's just turned 18 and had never been to a proper pub before). It was a guinness because she only drinks dark beer and it was the only dark beer they had. Not bad, though, considering it wasn't ireland.
I am currently sitting in the comfortable bed Kalina made me in her living room. This city makes me so happy, it is so filled with possibilities!! Kalina and I have a million plans. There is a masquerade ball being held christmas eve that we are planning to attend! Also we are going to go to the highlands one of these days, looking for snow. :) It's chilly in Edinburgh, but not freezing! There is also a christmas market I want to check out, and we are going to make gløgg to show these crazy brits that mulled wine has got NOTHING on gløgg. (It's like that warm-fuzzy falling in love feeling in a mug...sooo good!!)
I am not used to being in a place where people DON'T speak danish. I keep saying 'mange tak' for my thankyous and 'unskyld' for my sorries and 'hvad' for my whats. It's ingrained in my brain. When I go to the cash in a store or if I go to ask someone a question in the street, my brain automatically arranges my question or greeting in danish first. I have to consciously remind myself to speak english to strangers.
I miss danish.
But Kalina understands me, at least! (She speaks Swedish).
