HA!!!!
so I did my second triathlon today. it was a lot of fun, but it was very painful as well. yes, I am crazy and like to torture myself.
I was so happy that Greg came and watched along with my Dad and Shannon and Caitlin. They were a great cheering squad on the sidelines and apparently I was too zoomy (whooosh!) and dad or greg couldn't take too many pictures.
But yeah, get this: I DIDN'T START WITH MY GROUP! Nope, they had it on the website and crap that the start time was between 8 and 8:15. they started without me at 7:40. Probably looked pretty funny. Here I am sauntering down to the water with Greg and Dad and I look around and notice no one else has a silver swim cap, so I ask the lady standing near me "did the silver caps start?" she said yes, and I think I swore for the first time in front of my dad. I pulled on my swim cap and goggles and moved my ass into the water as fast as i could so I could join the pink cap start. wow, did I feel totally stupid and I so wanted to just give up then and there. but luckily I'm stubborn and just kept going. for starting the in the back of the pack of swimmers I passed quite a fair few and from there on the race went very smooth. I was really dizzy and almost threw up during the run, but that's kind of normal. I felt pretty strong in between the transitions compared to last year; i actually ran up the beach into the transition area compared to last year where i walked the whole way. stuff like that. But I didn't PR, which was what I really wanted to do. Last year I completed the course in about 56 minutes and this year was clocked in at 1:02 something but that includes at least two minutes of starting late.
So this year I am totally determined to kick so much more ass at this sport. god damn it i want to place in a race soon. I am planning out my new race season for next year including 10ks and possibly a 1/2 marathon in november (10 weeks away). I am crazy enough to do it as well.
I am joining the santa barbara triathlon club and that will put me into gear. not having anyone to train with is pretty hard, and also working at 5am makes it challenging. but i'm totally going to do it. argh! this is feisty kimi talking.
