I think Japan is warping my brain and my perception of things.

My idea of "Fat" and "not Fat" is so fucking different now and it's probably unhealthy.

My idea of "not fat" used to be anyone thinner than me. I guess that's kind of fair. I dunno if it is or not but I think that's fair.

But these days?

All I do is look at people's Facebook photos and think "holy FUCK everyone is so fucking FAT"

And that's coming from ME: a clearly overweight person.

Is that sick? Because I think it's sick. But now I look at girls who I once thought thin and can't believe how fat they are.

Japanese girls are fucking me up with their perfection.

Japanese girls are absolutely tiny and immaculate. Their hair, their make up, their nails, their clothes, their eyes, their skiny...

EVERYTHING. Every last detail is spent slaving over to attain PERFECTION.

And goddamn they work hard to maintain their childish bodies.

Their bodies are amazing. No one can deny that. And every day of my life I feel the pain of being the size and height that I am in a country that glorifies women who are less than 100lbs.

However.

However.

All their 90lbs women could not add up to the strength, personality, independence, and overall natural beauty that our women have.

I hate to make sweeping generalizations but we do not spent nearly every moment of our lives slaving over our looks and forcing ourselves to look a VERY specific way to please the VERY specific men and to fit into our society.

Our society is free, and first and foremost, our bodies should be free.

I'm an overweight woman, and I can already feel the ever encompassing Japanese mentality that if you have a little bulk then you're not good enough. You have to be PERFECT. I can look at my friends who are far thinner than I and call them fat now.

And that is DISGUSTING.

(Sorry for the sweeping generalization again) What Japanese girls make up for in immaculate good looks, they lack in an over all satisfying life. Husbands that cheat relentlessly. Bratty and spoiled children. And of course the constant reassurance that if they're not absolutely perfect then they're not fit for a happy life.

And it's not women that do this to each other. It's the men. The men who seemingly cannot be pleased by ANYTHING. They apparently don't want to date someone unless they are perfectly, 100% fit for marriage, and then once married they cheat ENDLESSLY and without relent. And they spend no time with their children, only to pass on the same ideals to their kids that their wives are to be respected for little more than as a cook and a cleaner.

Japan is a great country, but it is sure fucked up. But up beyond all recognition. Sure they have amazing technology, beautiful men and women, amazing highschool test scores, beautiful and revered traditions and beliefs... but for as much as they progress in technology, they fail to progress in overall happy lives.

I live right now in a country where someone hurls themselves to their death in front of a train every single day.

I live in a country where your body is not truly free.

And that frightens me.
