Trip day 2

new hostel, met some interesting people, namely a fellow from austrailia who investigates money laundering for a bank, is an avid hiker and is affraid of both sharks and kookaburras as well as a older fellow from scotland who lived in st.johns for ~2 years and was in frankfurt due to an issue with the trains that caused him to miss his plane to brazil. Really, it’s neat who you can come across while backpacking.

Met up with Katrin at the Romer, we explored Frankfurt for a couple hours before she had to leave to help her cousin with preparing for a french test. Also discovered my university e-mail account is on the fritz, so if you want to get in contact with me please use an alternate address until I get it sorted out. Spent the remainder of my day searching out alternate accommodations in frankfurt (as I've been asked to stay until thusday and the frankfurt book fair is apparently eating all of the available rooms) eventually found a spot for at least two nights. Then spent about two hours doing a life drawing of the Romer, during which I met a older german couple who were really quite nice, though we were not really able to communicate much as my german is still inadequate and they couldn't speak english. I'll try to finish the drawing of the Romer before I leave frankfurt (worst comes to worst I finish from the photo I took, though the whole thing is still going to be a bit off as I messed up the bell tower in ink)

also, apparently all starbucks provide free wireless, so I may end up going there more than I would otherwise like so that I have reliable net access

travel; frankfurt; germany
