Embroidery progress

It has been a long while since I last posted here. I've not done much in anything creative in a long while, except for sporadic bits of blackwork which has been keeping me a little busy during the slow winter months.

I did eventually start a new project, learning how to do long & short stitch in silk floss as part of an online class on Floral Gloves Needlecase that I gave to myself as a gift from Xmas.

The instructions are broken down and given over a six-month period, and because of other commitments, I really didn't get started until late in February, or was it early March? Either way, once I got started, it was a lot of fun and I finished the two months of instructions rather quickly, and am eagerly awaiting next month's info to continue. Eventually we even get to do up some goldwork, which is why some areas are padded in satin stitch. I hope to eventually actually make a real pair of embroidered gauntlets for my hand sewn gloves that I've only completed one set. I've got other ideas, now that I know how easy long & short really is.

I figured I would share a progress photo here of both the needlecase project, and how far along I am now on the blackwork project.

This is two months instructions worth of progress, which took me several days of what little free time I had to get to. The green and yellow satin stitched areas are padding layers for eventual goldwork layers over them. For scale, the hoop is six inches across.

Progress photo of project as of this date. I've got two more rows to complete on the right hand side before I can develop the partial back areas.

Eventually I will get back to creating more things, now that spring is here, and my creative juices get going again.
