TWID: Dr. Sexy Vets and Fake Psychics

Wow, it’s been a while, I know I said I would get better, but I’m obviously a fink and a liar. You should point you finger and shame me. Though I haven’t been writing as much as I should, that doesn’t mean I haven’t had my fair share of drama watching. I mentioned last time that I would be picking up new dramas and while, Mary Stayed Out All Night has started (next week, yo) and I’ve kind of lost interest in Freeter (oops); I have picked up other dramas like Reinoryokusha Odagiri Kyoko no Uso (fake psychic who solves mysteries..sounds so familiar) and I’ve stuck with Juui Dolittle (Still mostly for the Shun).

Juui Dolittle doesn’t seem like much in the first episode, but in the second episode the extra intrigue of vet hospital dominance in Japan along with a mysterious animal attacker make for interesting overarching storyline to go with the weekly save a life formula you see in medical dramas. Oguri Shun’s character as the harsh and abrupt vet doctor who is uncompromising about his prices is fun and interesting to watch. I like the moments when Shun goes in to tell off a pet owner, but also how he interacts with the other actors in the show including Inoue Mao.

Personally I’m kind of an emotional roller coaster when I watch this show I go from giggling at Dolittle’s meanness, to shuddering at operations scenes, to squeeing with happiness during the moments Dolittle is handling small furry animals like the Finnish Spitz puppy at the end of ep 2. I’m hoping Juui Dolitte can hold my interest and I’m thinking it’ll succeed. I really want to know how the hospital politics plays out.

Another drama I’ve been watching Reinoryokusha Odagiri Kyoko no Uso now known as Psychic Odagiri’s Secret (because I can’t type all of that) is about a super observant girl who people believe is psychic. Host of her own TV show (where she solves mystical problems), Odagiri has managed to even get the attention of a special police unit for psychic investigation. The officer in charge of learning about Odagiri soon learns she’s a fake psychic though and lies to the unit in order to keep his job and continue to work with her.

I like this show, but being a fan of the American TV show Psych I can’t help but view this as a shiny but less in depth version, but where Psych has gone nearly 4 season without mention or danger of the fake psychic Shawn being exposed, Odagiri’s Secret already feels like there will be more promise of danger to Odagiri for being a fake psychic. I’m hoping the 3rd episode picks
up the show moving beyond a leisurely pace that it’s currently at.

Both of these dramas have a lot of promise, Shun and Hiroki have great chemistry while Satomi as Odagiri has excellent comedic timing. I think next week (If I write) I’ll talk about some of the non-currently airing dramas that I’ve watched that made an impression. So til then,

Have A Great Week With Dramas.

PS: Massu should consider pushing his hair back…his hair looks sexy pushed back. (Mean Girls quoting was deliberate)
