Eek! Says I...What a holiday!
To think, I'm finding this first peaceful, unadulterated moment of internet time while sitting (once again) in the San Francisco airport. Getting here was quite the pain, wouldn't you like to know! However, I'd rather not interrupt my Japanese-people spying to recount it. Suffice it to say that by miracle of miracles I've made it to this last leg of my Christmas journey, just as by miracle of miracles I made it through the first.
Christmas in Northport was a resounding success: ten days of snow and lonely mountains and tumbling boys and delightful edibles and overeager dogs and combative Wii games -- not to mention mustaches and presents and movies and Monopoly. I did actually have wi-fi access while at the Carlsons', but between five other laptops, two Wiis, and two iPod Touches, no one had an easy time of ever logging on. Overall, that was probably a good thing, because it meant we spent more time indulging in each other.
We did have some mishaps (I think the front left wheel coming off the Subaru while Terry's driving Ben home from Spokane on a late Sunday evening constitutes a mishap), and certainly did a lot of hard labor hauling floor boards a mile back into the woods for the still-in-progress handbuilt log cabin (Gerhard refuses to let power tools within said mile of said cabin), we managed to make everything work out to the maximum.
This next week I'll be in Eureka with the Ma and the Sister and the Nephews -- fun fun!
