It's that time again!
Time to bitch about crappy subtitles!!! (I used to write fic to procrastinate. Now I do this.)
This time, I get to bitch about several different subbers with just one show! I have seen at least three different subbed versions of Nobuta wo Produce and none of them took three fucking seconds to google the name they didn't know.
LOL! Niichu! I totally want to name my cat that!

Curious, I just took the aforementioned "three fucking seconds" and googled the name in Japanese. It took me a few tries to get the correct katakana spelling, but I quickly managed to get to this page. I then clicked the link on the side of that page to get to the English version. Reading only the table of contents told me that it is in fact the name I was looking for.
Next, just for kicks, I googled "god is dead" and, without even having to check any websites, the second result on the list gives me all the info I need.
Fansubbers (and translators of all media), I realize that you're already taking a lot of time out of your lives to translate and sub these dramas for the rest of us, but please, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD KAME!!!, when you don't understand something (such as a name), please at least try to do a little research.
Guh.
Sorry. I've been needing to rant about this for nearly four years. And I honestly can't believe more than one subbing group got this wrong. I know nothing about philosophy and even I know who Nietzsche was.
(Heh. One of the subbed versions simply translates what Akira says to "some dead philosopher." >____<)
