Fangirl Japanese in Fics: A Poll!!!
So, we all know how fangirl Japanese always ruins a fanfic, but... what about when the Japanese is for things like how one person addresses another.
Like, if one character always calls her older brother "Onii-chan"? How should that be handled? Keep it in Japanese, translate it to "older brother" (or similar) or have the character call her older brother by name (even though she never does this in the drama/movie/whatever)?

Keep in mind, I'm mostly referring to dramas and such. Like, in Cardcaptor Sakura, Sakura always refers to her brother as "Onii-chan." Never "Touya." The anime subs and (I'm pretty sure) the official manga translations change it to "Older Brother," but it seems really awkward to me. I would never call my sister "Older Sister." So I want a second opinion.
