This was originally posted on August 23, 2008 over at
kimi-no-koe.net. I'm too amused to just delete it, so I'll post it here. Just keep in mind that it's over a year old.
So, I skimmed through
this article and
this article (and by 'skimmed' I mean that I may be totally misreading all of it, so don't take me too seriously here), and I'm amused.
Apparently, some guy soaked some newspaper in oil, set it on fire, and stuck it in a plastic flowerpot, leaving the flowerpot in a parking space in front of Johnny's headquarters. Of course, the culprit is an idiot. He was (obviously) filmed on the building's security cameras and then, later that same day, he was found at a local convenience store. Wearing the same clothes in which he committed the crime.
Amateur.
I don't think the article mentioned what this guy's motivation was. But, again, I fail at Japanese and probably just missed it. I guess the guy is 30, so maybe his young son auditioned and didn't make it? Or maybe he was denied a date with Kame? Or his wife is too obsessed with the JE boys and their marriage is failing? Or, most likely, the guy is just a bit off his rocker. *shrugs*
If I really think about this, it's kinda scary.
But... I don't know. I can't help but laugh. Maybe the guy just didn't like the flowers. I'd be a bit disgruntled, too, if one of the most powerful companies in Japan was too cheap to spring for proper terracotta flowerpots. I mean... Really, Johnny-san? Plastic?
