So, as I'm sure you all know, I'm a mod over at both
yorokobi_no_uta and
kattun_fanfics. (Never mind that I'm a bit of a fail mod at both...)
Anyway, I'm curious about something.
Most comms (including the two that I run into the fucking ground) have a rule about not linking to locked posts in other journals/communities. But a lot of people, with scans and graphics and fic and uploads, like to get around this by having their posts "locked in 3 days" or some such retardedness.
Obviously, THIS ANNOYS THE FUCK OUT OF ME.
But, since I want both my comms to be free of ridiculous rules, I'm reluctant to ban this practice altogether. I mean, what if I'm the only one who gets so annoyed by this?! So my question is this: Would it be reasonable to allow posts that are "locked after 3 days," but then, once a week, go through the comm posts and delete the ones that lead to locked entries? My thinking is that, it's against the rules to link to locked posts, so after the 3 days, that entry in YnU or KTFF becomes against the rules. Or. Should I set it so posts have to be open for at least a week? Or do both? Ban these types of posts altogether? Just ignore it?
I'm even more reluctant to do this in KTFF, since it would make the comm a little less writer-friendly.
My second question, on a slightly related note, is this: YnU allows advertisements. Would it be reasonable to go through the comm once every month or two and delete old advertisements?
