1,000 Crane Project for Nao-nii!

My sister and I are both attending Haruka Matsuri 2008 this year. At the Neoromance events, they have drop-boxes for fanmail and fan-gifts to the cast members, and so as a mini-service we would like to propose a project for all fans to participate in, delivering 1,000 cranes to our beloved Takahashi Naozumi.

Why 1,000 cranes? Cranes are a symbol

Actually, yeah, all my paper was 8.5 x 11 that I was just going to cut down too, XDDD
I had to buy it because (coincidentally?) I made cranes for an art project last semester, haha.
It cost me $12! *shakes fist at school store*

But still! It's for Nao-nii...!

I just may venture out in the -40 windchill tomorrow to go the four blocks to a store that sells paper as I'm left mostly with a handful of interesting pieces and a large amount of two rather uninteresting designs. I'll make as many as I can in a week!

I need to check what origami paper I have, what I can get, and what size first. :) (Do you know if there are any colors I should avoid using? At the very least. this seems like a good time to break out the shiny gold paper I have been saving :) )

As far as I'm aware of, there aren't any =x Gifts have been made with both solid and multicolor papers, some with rainbow patterns (alternating the cranes) ^^ The one's I've seen for weddings were specifically white and red, but color shouldn't be a problem here =3 Thank you for asking!!

Looks like I have a bunch red, pink, orange, yellow, blue, indigo, and purple sheets, along with a couple gold and green ones (7"x7" sheets...too big?) I can make at least 40, but will likely do more (entirely depends on what paper I can find on Monday :) ) I'll let you know.

XD ♥ That sounds wonderful! that size does sound a little big, but I honestly think it will be fine. I think if all the colors and sizes from everyone is mixed up, then it will look pretty!

folding a crane is no problem and i can do it quite fast, i can do 40 cranes in about 1 hour but the problem is i just scared i wont make it in posting it >.

Okay, I can't /not/ do this. It's too cool. I can probably do a full strand if I sit down and just /do/ it in the next week. So that's what I'm pledging for now. Will try to do more, though.

#1 Nao-fan is therefore a slacker and only just mailed you her cranes. *sweatdrop* But they are on their way, and I shipped them at a slightly faster rate so the girl said they'd get there by Friday. They'd better get there by Friday. *narrows eyes in general direction of post office*
I folded an extra 10, but didn't manage to fold an entire extra string.
