Day 3 & 4 Hong Kong Trip

Aug 16, 2011 21:01

Let's hurry up and finish this long overdue HongKong Trip Report!

10th April 2011

We head to Prince Edward MRT for Yuen Po street Bird Garden, Flower Market and Godfish market

pink building!

We were pretty much lost and just wandering among the streets. Soon, we came to a street with a franchise MacDonald-look-alike Hong Kong food store and a quiet looking local restaurant, so we try out the former!

To say the truth it was scary lor! There are a lot of uncles/ grandfather/ grandmother etc. Plus my reading chinese is not so good, I think I can made out the waiteress say "Everything is good here, just hurry and order!" so stress!

I have a feeling they gave us the wrong order but we anyhow accept their dishes XD the restaurant is quiet with rustling of newspapers and elderly staring curiousliy at us, haha (sweat)

We head to flower street!

This 4 level floor shop sells plenty of flower related items from flowers , gardening tools, and vases and decorations!

It's amazing array of colours! I feel my soul is heal, haha

Yuen Po street bird garden is right next to the flower market

Ehhh... the street have stench of pet birds, I turn around to see

ARGHHHHH!!! : hides behind boyfriend:

Next we head to, which is only 2-3 streets away from Ladies street

fufufu

We also pop by the Goldfish street, which is quite small.

Try a local snack egglette! the method of making is like waffle, the batter is like waffle and it taste like waffle XD

There's a arcade in the basement of a nearby shopping centre.

We head to this shopping centre.... to be truth I am just following my boyfriend, haha. Even though the temperature is suppose to be 14-22 degrees , it is still very hot due to glaring sun. So I'm quite happy with the aircon

This shopping mall gives me a Far East Plaza vibes, very trendy. They have zodiac statues throughout the mall.

We had a quick lunch at mos burger, I didn't eat as I was still quite full from the egglette

We went to ladies street and nearby shops too. On Yuanie's request to help to buy a figurene, we went to search for it at In's point (which is right in front of our hotel)

Despite Yuan's given directions, I still got hopelessly lost inside the mall. When I finally did find the shop, I shout in happiness (and boyfriend sweatdrop)

After finish Yuan's errand, we return to hotel for a quick rest, put down our shopping and we head out again to eat dessert XD

We also return to our hotel area to look for Yee Shun Dairy Company, which is quite famous online. Absolutely love the pudding here! It's absolutely yummy! I don't really like the steam milk with ginger though.

We head back to Tsim Sha Tsui MTR for the Symphony of Lights
My boyfriend really wanted to buy the Ocean Park x Giordano since we didn't buy much present at Ocean Park so we went searching for it.

but before that we had dinner! There's a small restaurant with loads of posters of award winning cert and looks like there's a lot of people inside so we try it out. The concept is like Yong Tau Foo, you choose your ingredients, cooking method (soup/ dry) and level of spiciness etc. if not they have set meals too.

My boyfriend choose spicy pork and mid spicy for the level of spiciness and he totally got pwn by the fiery taste (lucky I choose mild spicy). The portion is also exaggerated but not with our order items but with a mountain of toppings such as parsley, bean sprouts and spring onions which makes it bitter.

By the time we left, it's already 7.50pm and I got panic again and rush for it. It does not help when we got lost again and managed to reach the stars of avenue (err, isn't our original plan is to watch on the harbor?)

Actually Symphony of Lights is quite boring ... I would suggest you to skip it.

We head to Jordan MRT for Temple Street, and this is my favorite poster, haha

Temple street is really loooonnnnggg. Being out the whole day, I was quite tired so didn't take much photos.

Thus end day 3!

11th April 2011

It's the last day of trip so our plan is just to sleep in and rest, and to pack our bags for check out.

Being kiasu , I have to drag my boyfriend to the restaurant at 8am but ALAS! we mistake the operating hours.it's actually open at 10am.

bought this freshly made bun on street.

In the end we just rest at MacDonalds and wait for the opening hours.

The reason why I am so curious about this restaurant is it have a rating of one Michelin star, which I understand it is still hard to get. Normally any restaurant have Michelin star will charge their meals at hundreds of dollars but not this dim sum restaurant.

We run back to the restaurant at 9.15am and there is a queue already! Actually we notice the queue is made up of mostly tourists, haha.

and we got in, we are the among the last batch to enter the shop, LUCKY!

The steam carrot cake is soooo smooth, the prawn dumpling have succulent filling (drool) the porridge is comfort food and I simply must rave the baked bun with BBQ pork, ABSOLUTELY HEAVEN! Imagine the crispy bread outer layer and sweet BBQ sauce oozing out , IT JUST GO SO WELL WITH EACH OTHER!!! ARGHHH! I miss this dish! I don't care, at least order 2 pcs per person (glare at boyfriend for eating his share.) I think we are quite lucky because when another table try to order this dish, the waitress told her need to wait because it's sold out.

Love Yee Shun Dairy Company pudding so much , we bought more, the steam milk with egg and soy milk with red beans is love.

We finish pack and check out. While waiting for shuttle bus , we spend our leftover coins on tikam tikam hetalia XD

Really love our hotel for they even have shuttle bus to Kolwoon mrt. I find it interesting they have airport check out counters at Kolwoon MRT to check in first!

Took the airport express train back to airport

nice design~~

I got a little peckish so we order a dumpling set. it's quite crispy! Hope I can learn to make such dumplings.

We under estimate the distance from the lobby to the gate though, it's sooo far away, and we still need to take a internal train to another building! : faint :

and so we are back to Singapore sob. Overall I find Hong Kong lifestyle is very fast paced, if we are slow to order, the waiter will be urging us. when we finish our food, they will be hovering around our table to clear.

Day 1 - 08 Apr 11: Ocean Park, Lai Kwai Fong
Day 2 - 09 Apr 11 : Ave of stars, Duk Ling ride, Soho, The Peak
Day 3 & 4 - 10 Apr 11 : Yuen Po Street Bird Garden , Flower Market , Temple Street, Ladies Street, Symphony of Lights
