such a perfect day for root veg. Naan is in the freezer and will be toasted later to accompany.
asparagus is CHEAP now. go get some! the fat spears are more tender than the skinny ones.
I will be doing stuff at the house all week, today is my last 'day off'. I hope it warms up.
Friend V came over yesterday and brought strawberry + rhubarb sweetened with honey, and shortbread to eat with it. Wicked lady she is! I wonder if I can grow rhubarb?
V is a brilliant artist. Her color instinct is phenomenal. She's been working in a zillion media for years and her spinning wheel is older than me. She rocks at composition and rendering realistically, as well. What stuff she hasn't tried already, she's interested in. I want to be her when I grow up. She's a marvel. She's the one A bought his loom from. She's bought a banjo and I pestered her to bring it by, so he could tell her stuff about it. I wonder if she'll get lessons.
I was happy to show her stuff; needlefelting & bearmaking have captured her interest. I gave her a crash course in digital art stuff. also took her for a spin on realtor.com, which has IMO the best search engine for house finding. We found a sweet house in Gardner, how cool it would be if she moved there. The taxes would be half what she's paying now, and it's got a wrap-around porch and water view and all wood floors and vintage 19th century gorgeousness.
We met our neighbors at the new house and they are dear. Son and DIL of the lady who lived there before us. She works at a garden center and knows everything about what's planted. He grew up there and knows all the answers to stuff we've wondered about. It's had a happy history, we will continue that.
