My last update/post was so long ago I don't remember when it was. A lot has happened over the last few weeks. First off, some good news: MATT IS NOT BEING DEPLOYED. Yay!!!! We found out the week before Thanksgiving that they are not sending him off to someplace sandy. That doesn't mean he won't go at all, he's just no longer scheduled to go right now, but chances are they won't need him this cycle. Again, YAY!!! We get to keep Matt for Christmas afterall, we are so very very happy!
The Fischer Family (Mike, Mary and Paul) visited us for Thanksgiving week. We had a wonderful time and ate tons of really great food. In fact, I think that's what we did the most of, but it was worth it! Paul got to meet Evy for the first time, and Avery had his very first intelligible conversation with his grandparents (thanks to his recent speech therapy). Avery was sad to see them all go, and he still asks about them nearly every day.
Evy is 6 months old today. SIX MONTHS OLD. Wow, when did that happen? She now has two teeth, she's eating solid food two or three times a day in addition to still breastfeeding and she's chewing on everything she can get her little hands on. She is also rolling over, sitting up, and reaching for toys. She has started to scoot on her tummy a little bit too, so now we have to be on the lookout for the first signs of crawling! I am so amazed by her. Seeing her get so big is actually making me miss the early days when she was just a cuddly tiny sweet-smelling little thing. It's almost giving me to urge to have another one...(no, bad Kim - down girl!) LOL! Seriously, every day something new and wonderful happens with her. She loves interacting with Avery. She simply lights up everytime he talks to her or plays with her. And Avery enjoys making her laugh and smile, but he's not so fond of sharing his toys, especially when she slobbers all over them!.
We are now fully immersed in preparations for Christmas. We put up the Christmas tree this past weekend, but still have a few more ornaments to put on and decorations around the house to put up. I ordered my holiday cards a couple of days ago, too. So, you should be expecting those to come in the mail next week. Now I'm trying to organize photos and put together 2009 calendars using pictures of the kids and other family members as gifts for the Grandfathers. It's a lot more time consuming that I ever thought possible.
Last Saturday we actually had to break out the coats for the first time this season. However, we only had to wear them for that one night. :D It's been in the sixties nearly everyday, and shouldn't get too much cooler before starting to warm back up in February. We have rain today, but we're hoping to get out to New Orleans this weekend and go to the Audubon Zoo or the the Aquarium of the Americas. Should be lots of fun!
Tomorrow is a big day for all of us. Matt has a potluck at work the kids and I were invited too, so I have to bake a Cranberry Ribbon cake and make a Wild Rice and Corn casserole to share. Then tomorrow night I have a Med. Group Spouses meeting and gift swap that I have to bring food for too. I'm going to make some Cream Cheese Banana Bread and maybe some cookies.
Well, I'm off to the kitchen to try and get started before the baby wakes up. *hugs to all*
