(no subject)

I know, two posts in a morning, but right now I am royally PO'd at one of the librarians who's being a prima donna and therefore I don't feel like doing anything productive and I want to post. So nyah.

I was thinking of taking that accent quizlet people are passing about, but really, my accent and voice in general defies categorization. I have a standard voice mail message on my phone at work but I never played it back before I hit the save button. I needed to change it and this time I listened before I saved it. I thought, "OMG, is my voice really that irritating?" No wonder people sound so hesitant when they leave messages for me- they probably wonder who in the world that squawky creature is on the other end. Why do our voices sound different to us than they do to other people?
And if we hear our voices in our heads when we're thinking, what do deaf people hear?

*walks off resolving to speak as little as possible to save the world from my squawking*
