So how do you like my new desert at nighttime motif? I was bored on Saturday and decided to explore what "basic" options LJ offered and browsed the "expressive" choices, and found this one. Too many folks were politely complaining about my poor text colors on a dark blue background that I've displayed recently, and I hope this will be friendlier upon the eyes as well as speaking for something I truly cherish-the wild beauty of the American West. I have all of Louis L'Amour's books (bet you didn't know that!) as he is (was) my favorite Western storyteller, and I've read them all and enjoyed them many times. I'm a regular contributor to the Louis L'Amour fan club boards and love getting into some ripsnorting arguments inspiring discussions not only about the books but on any subject in general, whatever happens to get members talking that day. I like that forum of discussion better than LJ because you can see the central post and jump in without having to have 6 million people friended to join in the fun. That's something I kind of miss about the old LOTR boards, too; I rarely participated in the ripsnorting arguments inspiring discussions but it was fun to watch the ones who scrapped a lot get into one of their free-for-alls. Rather like a literary hockey game. There were at least three or four who were at each other ALL the time, and I'd log on, get a bowl of popcorn, keep refreshing the page and bet on who would have the last word. (Sorry,
primsong, if you're reading this but you have to admit it was like that quite often.)
How did I get onto that? I don't know. Just bringing up the good ol' days.
