Slogging through the marshland

They've been planting the winter grass here in AZ over the last several weeks, and my apartment complex has been a bit overzealous in watering the lawns, especially considering water in the desert is the price of whiskey. The monsoons provided a great deal of rain this year; however, because the rain was so heavy and fast, most of it was run-off and flooding and did not do a whole lot to alleviate the drought. I take our dog Cody out every morning around the same time, and it's been difficult trying to find a dry spot to walk him. He is a very fastidious dog, and doesn't like to get his precious paws wet. No matter where I set foot this morning, the sprinklers caught us. WHOOSH! I turned to the left. WHOOSH! I turned to the right. WHOOSH! In desperation, I left the complex and went outside the boundary of the complex by the road, still in my jammies with a jacket over it. WHOOSH. It takes Cody FOREVER to get to the point, and not for the first time I dream of a house with a yard and a doggie door.
I need to work on my recipe-fic for the challenge but not sure it will be done by the deadline. It will likely consist of 20 lines of recipe and 5 lines of story, but hey, it's something.
Have a good day, everyone. Darn, I feel moldy.
