Religious discrimiNation

To any of you who doubt that under Bush's reign--yes, the word "reign" is becoming increasingly appropriate--the government is increasingly blurring and indeed outright crossing the line between church and state, I offer to you this recent article:

Non-Christians Need Not Apply

And this editorial cartoon:

*twitches*

As George Carlin said: "I don't have 'pet peeves'; I have major, psychotic fucking hatreds.'"

And though this fills me with an unfettered rage, I simply cannot wait to see how it all plays out. And I am excited and gleefully awaiting the day that Americans finally see what's going on and say to themselves, "Oh... shit."

I will then proceed to laugh in their faces.

I mean, really... I always thought that the government could only do what the people ALLOW them to do; if enough people voted against it, it wouldn't go through, right? If enough people protested, and fought it, they could put it back the way it was, or change it for the better.

Unless America has been lying this whole time and is a dictatorship, I mean.

Which, by the way, it looks like that's what that country is heading for. From an outsider's point of view, I mean.

*has images of Hitler dancing in her head*

.... -_-;

Sometimes I am very glad I am Canadian. Canada's no field of gold, but at the very least we've managed to prevent such stupidity from taking complete control. For the time being, at any rate. At some point, we'll get a good whack of it.

Ugh.

You're not the first person to mention Bush and Hitler in the same post:

You know... I know very little about the world wars, or the war going on in Iraq, the war on terrorism, Hitler, Bush, and anything else. I admit that I am so unenlightened on that stuff that it's not even funny.

But what I HAVE heard, and what I DO know, is that Bush is seriously starting to sound like Hitler. The U.S. is, in my eyes, beginning to look like a dictatorship. It is becoming an intolerant, frighteningly religious, bigotive nation of pompous bastards with a taste for blood and arrogance that rivals that of the stereotypical French. And what truly gets me, and makes me angry, is how so many Americans claim that they are "doing right", they THEY are the "righteous" ones.

Yeah, sure, I believe in "an eye for an eye", but I don't believe that there is any honour in it, or that there is anything "righteous" about it. And the fact that Bush is using God as his excuse, as his protection, using God to help him with HIS agenda is disgusting and disturbing. The same with ANY religion.

For ANYONE to claim that they know what God wants is ridiculous, stupid, and so bloody arrogant that it's not even funny. As if they can call God on the phone and get His opinion. The pure arrogance, the utter fucking IDIOCY of these people is astounding. How the hell does anyone know what God wants, or thinks? I mean, honestly.

The only two things it's doing is as follows:

Making God out to be a warmongering, hateful prick who likes to see babies get raped and homosexuals murdered, which thus makes him a sadistic bastard who enjoys murdering innocent people,

and

Making Americans, ALL Americans (even the ones who protest and don't agree with Bush or what's going on) to be a massive horde of stupid religious nutcases with a bad case of pompousness that would put (again) the stereotypical French to shame.

I'm sorry for going on a ranting spree, but this is truly making me so disgusted with the world and America in particular that it's just... ARGH! It just enrages me to no end.

People just suck. And this is one of the many reasons why I am antisocial, and think humanity, as a whole, is merely an enormous pack of dumb animals.

ARGH.

People overseas called us "Ugly Americans" even before we started wrapping arrogance in religion... now "ugly" is almost the kindest word used.

*shakes head* And I have absolutely no idea how to stem the tide. Every time the religious right are prevented from taking over another organization or institution, they claim they're being "persecuted" and their perceived martyrdom makes them even more fervent and determined to overcome.

Very true...

It's a no-win situation, here. It sucks.

*sigh*
