The Lizzie Bennet Diaries and YouTube Commercials

Commercials on YouTube are really really really annoying when you keep going back to the same videos and rewatching them. You have to watch the same frickin' 30-second ad thousands of times.

Yes, I've been watching The Lizzie Bennet Diaries obsessively. And it is thus far composed of 89 short episodes (generally around 5 minutes each). And, after a certain point which I assume was when the series went viral, before which the episodes have no ads, every single LBD episode has the same frickin' Diet Pepsi commercial. And when a series is composed of 89 very short episodes, people sit down and watch a lot of them at once. And so they watch the same annoying commercial every 5 minutes.

It's actually kind of amusing to see all the comments on these videos from people saying that they now hate Pepsi and will never drink it again after the Lizzie Bennet Diaries onslaught (and there are seriously a lot of comments to this effect). Heh. I love it when commercials have the opposite effect from what was intended.

Luckily, YouTube has a quick and easy Mute button. I just click it whenever the ad starts, and click over to a different tab in my browser. Still: annoying. Especially when I keep watching the same 5 or 6 episodes over and over … 'cause I'm like that. Once I've watched the ad for that episode once, YouTube, couldn't you let me slide when I come back to watch it again and again? Sheesh.

On Being Sick and Tired

I woke up in the wee hours last night, coughing and coughing and coughing. Again, I say, "Sheesh!" Most of the time, during the day, I don't cough much and just feel tired, but night is often quite different. Last night, I coughed enough that I got up and took cough syrup. Still kept coughing. Went down to lie on the couch. More coughing. Around maybe 6 a.m., I heard Shannon get up and close the bedroom door, which he confirmed this morning was because my coughing downstairs was keeping him awake. I ended up sleeping 3 hours at most.

Currently, I've been coughing -- with various degrees of severity -- for about 3 1/2 months. It's a little ridiculous.

I'm puzzled by how little energy I have when I go out. I walk perhaps half my usual speed (literally!) and get winded after only a block or two, even on flat ground. Sometimes I also feel a little dizzy after walking a few blocks. This isn't the same as my recovery from bronchitis the first time; then I had plenty of energy and would go out doing things, and only got worn out if I did too much for a couple days in a row. And, even then, the over-doing mostly resulted in coughing, rather than this kind of weakness and exhaustion. Yes, last time I had problems with long-term stamina, but eventually I got over it and was pretty much my usual energetic self for more than a month, and now suddenly I'm shuffling down the sidewalk and asking friends to walk more slowly because I can't keep up.

Thought: my doc has been speculating that I might have adult-onset asthma, only made obvious since the bronchitis (which asthmatics are more susceptible to). Feeling out of breath is a common symptom of asthma, and when I'm having to ask people to walk slowly, it's because I'm out of breath. So maybe my old-ladyish shuffling down the street isn't as weird as it seems? I'm seeing the pulmonologist on Friday, so maybe I'll learn more then.
