Kaua'i 2011

Our only major outing today was to go to Waimea (the town, not the canyon) for shave ice at the original Jo Jo's, because they have about a gazillion flavors. Gary didn't want any; but Shannon ordered a small shave ice with chocolate, cherry, and strawberry syrups (they do them in stripes); and I ordered a small shave ice with chocolate, butterscotch, and coffee syrups. My shave ice was rather monochromatic, but Shannon's had a bit of red color to it. Last year, I got all tropical flavors (pina colada, banana colada, and pineapple), so I thought I'd try some non-fruit flavors this time. I think I prefer the fruit. I'll try something new next year.

There's a pier out into the ocean at the end of the street Jo Jo's is on, so we drove down there and ate our shave ice out on the pier. The ocean in that area is completely brown, due to run-off from the island, so the water isn't very pretty, but the more distant views were still nice.

Then we went to the "Big Save" in Eleele (pronounced "elly elly," at least by my father-in-law) so I could get some chocolate for the flight home.

Then we came back, Shannon did some laundry, and I fell asleep. *snore* When I woke up, Shannon and I did some packing up for tomorrow, because we'll be heading out around 8 a.m. Luckily, we're both still on California time, so we'll probably wake up way earlier than necessary.

I'm looking forward to getting home tomorrow and seeing our kitty cats. Meow!

Tonight Gary and Mary's bible study friends are coming over (in about half an hour).
