Sansan: An Olfactory fanfic Introduction
Hello friends
As I wrote in my last post, I've been inspired to find perfumes that are reminiscent of Sansa and Sandor. Due to my search, I became increasingly obsessed with the idea of taking canonical Sansan and translating that to a scent. After all, perfume is an art form, one that can be didactic, catharthic, elevating, polluting, profaning, blah, blah, blah. But one that has yet to be explored in Sansan fandom. We have an embarrassment of riches here - 1000s of fanfics, fanart, fanvids, even Sansan food due to those lovely ladies at the Inn of the Crossroads. But no Sansan scents!
So I'm going to be exploring this new territory in the next couple of weeks. I'll take a Sansa and/or Sandor passage from each of books and relating it to a perfume - discussing its ingredients, top note, drydown, what other users have said about it. All perfumes will be from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab. http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com/welcome.html. I've selected them due to their large catalog, availability of affordable samples ("imp ears"), fanbase and fan review resources, and a mission statement to "encapsulate an allegorical idea into singluar olfactory experiences."
At the end of the olfactory fanfic, I'll send out imps (these are sample size 1/32oz glass vials) of the Sansan scents to LJ friends that PM me their address and wish to participate in the shared olfactory experience. As I'm toiling for love, this will be free of charge. But you won't be able to choose your Sansan scent, so you might get a perfume that you consider "polluting." The idea is to evoke a Sansan scene through smell, not necessarily to wear a "quiet" smelling perfume.
