feel free to skip. I've been fairly careful about making blatantly political posts before, but I've come to realize that in *my* journal I can say whatever I want. Friends: If you don't like my politics or what I'm saying, feel free to defriend me.

An article about Bill Clinton's new book. )
I like Obama. I think he's capable of great things. And I hope that if he doesn't become President in '08 he'll run again. But I simply do not believe that any person of his age and relative inexperience is ready for the office of the President of the United States at the present time. These are tenuous times for our country and the new President, whoever he or she may be, will have to be extremely careful.
That's not to say I think we're all doomed if Barack does become President in '08. While back in 2000 and '04, I wanted to kill myself, I think that no matter what the result, this country will be breathing a huge sigh of relief on January 20th, 2009.

I dunno. There's Obama, running for President. And then there's you suggesting he needs more "experience." *shrug*

When Bush was elected and then reelected, I knew it was going to be a disaster. If Obama is elected, I know it WON'T be a disaster, far from it.
I'm sure that there are jerks out there who see the color of Obama's skin and say, "Oh, no way," but there are those, and I think many more than you think, who look at his credentials and say, "This guy would have my vote if he'd spent a little more time in the Senate and he'll probably have my vote next election."
"Experience?" Do you mean "lighter skin?" Because I assure you, that is not what I mean.

You know, I decided to google "compare Presidential candidates" to see if I could find out how other Dem candidates compared in "experience." You know what? I couldn't find that criteria. "All" I found was comparison of their issues, which tells me that this argument over "experience" is pointless and designed to obfuscate both racism and the lack of a better reason to be against him.
So, if you bring me something objectionable about Obama that relates to the issues, we can have a conversation. This "lack of experience" bit doesn't cut it.
Thank you, BTW, for making me look up stuff. :)

I think Obama will make a great President, because of his stance on many of the issues.
All I'm saying is that the people pointing at his so-called "lack of experience" aren't necessarily using it as a smoke screen for an issue with his race. Because I got the feeling that you might not understand that some people are strange and get hung up on stuff like that. Is it ridiculous? To a certain degree, I think it is. But it's just the way I feel.
I'd rather be called ridiculous for being ridiculous rather than viewed as a racist just because I'm being ridiculous.

I got the feeling that some people are racist and don't realize it, so instead they get hung up on stuff like that.
Of course, racism really isn't an issue unless you're the victim of it.
