My Last 2nd Trimester Break

Konbanwa Mina-san

Nan desuka? That's as close as I cant get to "wutup" in Japanese, LoL. It literally means "what is it?" What it iiiiiiiiis. Anyway, I don't really have any particular subject to talk about, but I figured I'd update about my trimester break so far. Its been mostly uneventful, but hopefully I'll get to do something else fun before its over.

Friday March 4th

We had our final showing of Swimming at the Dance Is show in Berkeley that night. It ended up being really fun though, and one of our best runs ever. I won't go into all the details, since I know those of you who read this find it irritating when I talk about dance, but I'll just say the funniest parts. The first was when we were all warming up by the side of the stage with the warm up we'd been doing in class that week, and everyone was looking at us like we were weird because nobody else was warming up, LoL. Later when we were downstairs waiting for the second half of the show, we had fun doing millions of handstands, despite Tammy's specific instructions not too. Then, for good luck, Tammy got us these adorable stuffed duck things, which we were all quite overly amused with for some reason. The actual run itself was probably the best we've ever done it and I had a great time...the only problem was that my hair fell out...but that was Jennie's fault...haha just kidding. Then I stayed after to help deflate Leroy for the last time, which was good fun.

In all, the night was a fun start to break, and a great last performance for our group. Being in DP has been really fun this year, because for the first time in Branson history there's been a group of people who got along AND took dancing seriously. Woohoo.

Saturday March 5th

I don't really remember much about this day except that I went to Giant Steps and got to work with one of my favorite students, so it was all good fun instead of the usual boring monotony.

That night my mom and my sister and I went to the Emeryville Public Market for dinner and I satisfied my craving for Indian Food. Naan bread=best thing ever. Then we went over to the theater and saw Be Cool (because my sister still isn't old enough to appreciate good movies like Hotel Rwanda *sigh*). The movie was actually pretty funny, but also really random--I guess I'm accquiring a taste for movies that have absolutely no point though, LoL. After that I went home and stayed up late for pretty much no reason. After the movie we stopped by Barnes & Noble so I could buy Absalom, Absalom by Faulkner to read over break. I tried starting it the other day but its pretty damn hard, which is annoying seeing as its third trimester and all. But yeah, after that we went home and I slept, yay.

Sunday March 6th

I got up early to go to riding as usual. Although I was finally on time for the first time in weeks, I couldn't find Eddie's bridle, so Gianna made me go back and look for one...so I still caused the whole lesson to be late. Then she also got mad at me for wearing a tanktop because she said it didn't look "proffessional." Maybe I would actually take what she said seriously, but at this point I've had maybe 20 different riding instructors, and all of them didn't care what I wore, so it pissed me off, especially since its only going to get hotter from here on out. But whatever.

My lesson was over at 1, but I had an interview in Ross at 3, so my mom and sister and I went to her work in San Rafael so I could clean up and change. Then we went to the mall and I got some lunch at Combo King and some free samples from See's. Then we drove over to my interviewer's home in Ross. She went to Harvard, so clearly she had a damn nice house. She also had a cute black lab who responded to commands in French...how trippy is that. The interview ended up being okay, and the lady wasn't as annoying as I had thought, but it was still pretty boring. She talked a lot about the work load, etc. and I decided that even if I were to get into Harvard, it would be so damn boring to go there. Plus I would have to be around people like Molly Hester and Jessica Alvarez...ew. My mom is stupid for making me apply there. But anyway.

I don't remember what I did for the rest of the day, but it was probably mostly sitting around and doing nothing, aka procrastinating from cleaning my room and reading Faulkner.

Monday March 7th

I slept in until 11 or so, and then just lay in my bed enjoying my laziness until 12 or so. When I finally got up I felt all motivated, so I spent the entire day cleaning out my room. I don't think I had cleaned it once since winter break, so you might be able to understand why it took me a good 5 hours to get anything accomplished. I was so proud of myself though, because I even cleaned out my brush box--that is something I most definately haven't done in at least 2 or 3 years, LoL. That night I went to dance, and then made plans with Amalia for Tuesday.

Tuesday March 8th

I got up early to get a ride to Marin with my mom. I went to Amalia's house, where we hung out and messed around of Fruity Loops for a little bit. Then we took advantage of the fact that she can drive now and that I could pass for her sister, and we drove to Chrissys house. I ate a lot of Twix and Amalia played Kingdom Hearts until I began to suffocate on cat hair. We somehow decided that it would be amusing to wash the cars, so we washed Amalia's first so it ended up looking hella good, and then Chris' second...so it looked...not so good. But whatever, it was amusing, especially since it got really hot outside.

Chris needed a black tie, so we drove all the way to Novato and looked at Ross. They didn't have a black tie, so he called his mom and figured out he could just use a bow tie instead, which he had at home. We weren't really sure what to do after that, so we drove to the mall and walked around for a bit. Amalia (who said she wasn't going to spend any money) ended up getting this poster of Orlando Bloom that was on sale at the poster store, and this wallet from Pacsun, or whatever that store is. Then we were leaving and were tempted by McDonalds. After a long while of indecision, I decided to get a salad. It wasn't that good...but oh well. Chris had to go back and get ready for a performance then, so Amalia and I went back to her house and messed around on Fruity Loops some more.

Around 6 we headed to COM for the girls and boys' basketball games. Yes, I admit it, I actually went to a Branson basketball game. I stayed away from most popular sporting events for nearly all of my four years until now, but oh well. It ended up not being so bad. The girls game was kinda boring, but the guys game was really funny for two reasons: one was the hella tall guy that could block Chou, but turned out to be a bad player. Two was the cheerleaders...hahaha, 'nuff said. We headed back to Amalia's, and then Chris came over. We contemplated going to Denny's, but decided to make pancakes instead. I suck at making pancakes, but I swear they didn't turn out that badly!! Then we were bored so we decided to check out this party we'd heard about at a soph's house. We found it easily, but there were only 2 cars outside...and also John Tufts, LoL...so we decided that it looked hella boring and went to 7-11 instead. We ARE going back to get those ice cream float thingies. But anyway. Chris wanted to drive out on this really windey road that ended up in Peacock Gap or something. It wasn't that interesting because it was dark, but whatever.

We ended up back at Amalia's house and attempted to watch Kill Bill. I guess we got about half way through, but we all kept falling asleep even though it was only 1 or something, so Chris left and Amalia and I went to sleep.

Wednesday March 9th

After waking up a few times and having weird dreams about being stuck on Ferrys and whatnot, Amalia and I woke up and had breakfast. My dad picked me up around 12:30 or so, and I went home and didn't really do anything for a while. Then I went to dance...which was amusing since Ali managed to really piss Faith off and ruin class for the rest of us...but ya know...whatev. When I got home Astrid called me and we talked for a while, and now here I am, updating my LJ. Woohoo.

I always amaze myself with how long these entries get, but I guess I'm just really good at making something out of nothing...I mean, clearly you have to be to get through nearly 4 years of Branson English, LoL. But anyway, hope everyone else is having a fun...or at least relaxing break.

Give me a call if ya wanna chill this weekend. Or just give me a call anyway, LoL.
