If my life were a movie...
What would your life be, if it were a movie? Comedy, horror, drama sci-fi? And who would play you?
I think right now my life could only be a movie on Lifetime, ie melodrama. You know, they’re always showing things about mothers and the troubles with their children. What a perfect set-up I have going on. Young mother with a successful career who knows she needs to spend more time with her son. Just as she’s truly realizing this and making plans to do so, her vindictive ex-husband attacks her and kidnaps the child. The mother, chomping at the bit to have her son returned safely, spends night and day bothering the police and the FBI. There would even be a moving scene in the church as the mother begs God for her child’s safe return.
God, those things always make me ill.
The one good thing about them is they usually have happy endings. Even the ones featuring mothers with teenage daughters-turned drug addicts and/or prostitutes. And yes, kidnapped children coming back, everyone’s happy….
Do those mothers ever just feel like they’re going completely crazy and losing their minds? Do they ever worry that they’re driving their friends crazy when all they can talk about is their children? And then to they feel guilty for moments when they might actually think of something else, or wish they had something else to think and talk about?
As for who would play me, I think Vanessa Williams would be a good choice. She’s a few years older than I am, and her eyes are blue instead of green, but I’d be honored to have her represent me.
