Christmas highlights:
*I got bit by a dog
*Jake gave me a DVD as a present then promptly took it with him to his dad's (he didn't bring it home)
*My ex wrapped up an antique bear of mine he'd kept when I left him and gave it to me after letting his second wife's dogs chew it up. He felt sewing up the holes would restore the value and make it a gift I'd like to have. Not so much.
*I was the only person in the company expected to work the day after Christmas.
*My Christmas bonus was $500 less than last year (not that I didn't expect that due to the economy, but sucks still)
*I got my own gift back for the Dirty Santa game with my family (I returned it to the store for the cash).
*I woke up Christmas Day with a sore throat, fever, and basically felt like death warmed over all day and still had to go visit with my sister at her new house with her new husband and the aforementioned dog.
I've already cleaned up all the confetti and dead soldiers from the pity party so I'm not looking for another one. I'm fine now, really.

Saturday I'd recovered enough to go get some cruise shopping done. AAA didn't have my lime green suitcase any more, but I got a lovely plum one at Sears for next to nothing. I also bought $100 worth of frilly underthings people will only see if Captain Morgan gets the better of me and a nice little black dress for formal night. I still have no shoes, socks, nor pantyhose, and 100lbs. on my person I'd rather not have, but other than that I think I've got clothing covered.
I booked a really swanky suite hotel on Miami Beach for the night going and the Ramada near the airport for coming back. If you think the Ramada was the bargain purchase, think again. I should have stayed at the swanky place both nights I think, but eh. It's booked and paid for.
I forgot I needed to hold back money for the kids glasses. Oops. Oh well. Maybe I'll get my taxes filed. I need to wait for my student loan interest statement, but I may file an amended return after I get back so I can have the moolah before I go (if the government doesn't keep it to apply to the student loan which is a possibility - they were vague on that point when I talked to them about it on the phone).

Speaking of the kids - I nearly got Mike back from Christmas with his dad's family in little itty bitty pieces. They were in the basement playing Wii at their uncle's house and everyone but grandma was burning up.
Grandma Evil(as the kids call her): It's so cold in here!
Mike (muttering): Compared to your dominion in hell maybe.
Apparently the uncles heard and Mike was dubbed Kim Jr. once grandma had retreated to parts unknown. I wasn't there, but Mike was so proud of himself for thinking on his feet while not missing a beat on the game he had to tell the daring tale of smart ass and survival.

I started a new story last night. No, I haven't finished any of my old ones and I haven't looked at Harry's story since I converted it to PDF and put it on my website.
I've also converted all the articles in
Harlequin's Learn to Write Pages to PDF for easy access. I'd planned on getting the Sony 505 Reader and putting everything on it for all the time spent flying, but I chickened out when I got to Border's Books. On the website the reader was $269, at the store it was $299. It was just as well because I needed that money for the glasses and the frilly underthings. I can read on my laptop.
I can't believe it's only three weeks until the cruise. I'm more excited about being somewhere other than work than I am to go on the cruise. I'm better prepared this time. I know what to expect and I got a room with a balcony so I won't be so claustrophobic. I keep thinking I'm forgetting something really important. If the rooms had little fridges for Diet Coke, cruises would be perfect.
Damn, 330 already? Today's been flying by - not that I'm complaining. Later :)
