No shopping week
So this week, starting yesterday, I'm going to try my hardest not to spend a penny. So far, so good, though I did drop around $80 on groceries on Saturday before an evening of dinner and theater (around $60).
Exceptions:
- the band needs some new reeds, so I'll have to visit the bagpiping stuff website.
- if I run out of gas by the end of the week, then I can get gas.
- work purchases are work.
Rule interpretations:
- no gift gard usage. (It's still money, just a different kind.)
- charity is permitted.
- no shopping even without buying, online or otherwise.
- no looking at catalogs.
- shopping for free stuff, like free podcasts and library books, is permitted.
The worst night will probably be tonight. Traditionally, I go to the gym and then Starbucks after work and before 8pm drumming practice. So I usually drop a few dollars on an egg sandwich at Starbucks and read for a bit.
The jury is will out on whether being taken out to dinner (should I be so lucky) is allowed.
