1) Take photos 2) Upload to computer, automatically sorted into folders sorted by date. I may clump folders together like "2006-05-Italy" 3) Look through them all, and in each folder copy the ones I like into a new folder called "Keep" 4) Adjust the "Keep" pictures as I see fit.
This is pretty memory intensive. I don't really delete that many photos because I am a packrat. Also, I tend not to label the photos. I am on the lookout for good photo organizing software too. It'd be nice to be able to label the photos.
I haven't been happy with iPhoto because it's been hard for me to figure out how to get copies of the finished photos and how to move the photos around. It's easy to tweak and untweak in iPhoto, but apparently if I move a picture around it stops being able to recognize it. It's a little frustrating, but it could just be the learning curve.
I've also used picasa, which is okay, but I also still don't really like it that much. Again, it could be the learning curve.
These days, to look at photos, I mostly use the Windows Fax and Picture Viewer, actually. It displays them the best - sized to my screen, and I can easily move between photos. I don't like how Picasa displays photos - it doesn't use the full extent of the screen real estate it has.
